Sofia Coppola's 'Bling Ring' Trailer Looks as Wild as the Real Tabloid Crime Story
The true-crime story was just begging to be a movie: a group of Los Angeles area teens transforms into a crime ring, burglarizing the homes of celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. And now here it is, with a trashy-meets-classy, distorted new Hollywood glow our first real look at Sofia Coppola'sThe Bling Ring, and it borrows a tag line straight from Nancy Jo Sales'Vanity Fair2010story about the group: "let's go shopping." (Sales's piece, which is reportedly the basis for the film, she wrote that the group's alleged leader, Rachel Lee, called their thieving "shopping.") Here's the clip, set to a very loud Sleigh Bells song:

As with any Sofia Coppola film, the trailer is highly stylized, and will probably get a lot of attention for the shots of Emma Watson sexy-dancing. (YouTube commenters are asking for GIFs.) The Playlist already made the comparison to Harmony Korine'sSpring Breakers, which also features stars with young fan bases doing very bad things.

It's still unclear how faithfulThe Bling Ringcan be the reporting on the subject, whether that be from Vanity Fair or TMZ, is plenty salacious on its own. But Paris Hilton herself is guest-starring, so there's that even if Marie Antoinettewasn't exactly what you'd call faithful non-fiction. Via TMZ you can see real life video of the burglars in Audrina Patridge's home:
